Katrina Lessons
Upon discovering the devastation wrought by Katrina, those directly affected were reminded that all things made by man - our houses, businesses, food supply, “financial well-being,” governments, medical care, old age care - are quite temporary in nature.
Only the very fortunate make it through their lives without suffering the loss of at least one of these, and those living on the Coast lost ALL of them in a matter of minutes.
Katrina reminded us of the stark reality that, when all is said and done, the ONLY thing we can count on for our survival is each other.
And, of course, we also learned that, as soon as our own lives return to normal, we forget all the other lessons.
