Speech at Popps Ferry Baptist Church 10-06-07
Some of these writings are the result of my spending an entire winter doing nothing (and I DO mean nothing) but sitting in my recliner across from my hot wood stove reading the writings of James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton, along with the notes from the original Constitutional Convention, the “Anti-Federalist Papers,” and the “Federalist Papers.”
This effort was inspired by my “crusade” to save the country.
All this reading made me see just how beautiful and well-thought-out our original system of government was.
Of course, this had the unfortunate (fortunate?) consequence of making me see that our current “system” of government is so completely messed up that it CAN’T be fixed, and so I’ve moved on to more fruitful endeavors.
I’ve included these writings so that some other idealist might take up the cause. I’d be happy to cheer you on from my recliner.
